William Beckman (b. 1942) has been recognized for more than 50 years as one of the country's leading realist artists, his paintings and drawings of family members and the landscape of his youth the subject of countless exhibitions in the U.S. and in Europe. Now 83, Beckman has spent the last six years focused on his landscapes, which, for the first time, were presented as a cohesive body of work early this year in “William Beckman: Heartland” at Forum Gallery in New York City.
