In a Brooklyn brownstone, Molly Portnof of DATE Interiors created this white kitchen that is anything but boring. Handcrafted zellige tiles add texture and shine to the backsplash and in the custom arched alcove behind the range. Open shelving gives the space an airy feel. Unlacquered brass hardware and fi xtures, butcher block countertops, and a leathered Danby marble island countertop add patina that will evolve over time. Refrigeration by Bosch. PHOTOGRAPHY BY KIRSTEN FRANCIS, STYLING BY ANTHONY AMIANO Designer Jeff Andrews transformed his own kitchen into a glamorous, 1930s-inspired showplace with black limestone fl oors, gray-brown cabinets, and dramatic black-and-white soapstone for the backsplash and countertops. He added a dose of color in the blue-green tile on the back of the kitchen island, refl ecting the pool just outside.
